THAI VACANZA MASSAGE RETREAT
SCHÖNRIED, SWITZERLAND

“In the spirit of the roots of Thai massage, the courses are held each summer in the stillness of the mountains far away from the buzz of civilisation. The course center and accommodation is simple and cosy without luxury. Away from distraction we dive into the ancient world of traditional Thai massage.”

“The valley has many beautiful sights: the nature preserve by idyllic Lake Lauenen with its waterfalls and high moors or the pretty idyllic, historic mountain chalet-villages set in the gentle and unspoiled Alpine landscape. According to legend the region was created by the hand of God. God wanted to take a short rest whilst creating the world. The imprint of his hand thus shaped the Saanenland region. His five fingers formed the valleys, with Gstaad nestling in their midst. It is hard not to believe that supernatural forces are at work when you let your eyes wander over the beauty of Nature. And nestling amidst the lakes and mountains lie the homely, alpine villages with their characteristic chalets.”

“Thai Massage Vacanza offers unique courses in traditional Thai massage set in the breathtaking Swiss Alps. In the course for beginners we learn sequences and techniques for a two hour treatment of Thai massage. In the advanced we integrate our practice and learn new techniques.”

“The theoretical foundation of Thai massage is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running through the body. The Indian origin and influence is obvious here since the background of this theory clearly lies in Yoga philosophy. Yoga philosophy states that life energy (called Prana) is absorbed with the air we breathe and with the food we eat. The human being is supplied with this vital energy along a network of energy lines, the Prana Nadis. Disturbances in the flow of energy result in an insufficient supply of Prana, which can in turn lead to sickness. Working on the energy lines with massage can break the blockades, stimulate the free flow of Prana, and help to restore general well-being. There is a lot of stretching involved and many exercises might well be described as applied Hatha Yoga or applied Physical Yoga.”
